All the Blind Want to Read. Let's help them.

SUN have started working with All-Russian Blind Society in the field of making books with embossed images.

Globally, an estimated more than 161 million people are visually impaired; among them, 124 million have low vision and 37 million are blind. People all over the world loose vision continuously. Every second we have one child and every five seconds one adult to be added to worldwide blind list. That is really terrible:

There are 300 thousand visually handicapped people at the territory of Russian Federation. Every fourth has low vision and some people are blind:

These people possess a very strong will, they do their best to cope with the difficulties they are faced. They need everything special: computers, mobile phones, books. One of the main problemsfaced by the blind and visually-impaired in Russia and all over the world is the near-impossibility of obtaining a good education in standard educational institutions.

In order to help visually handicapped children (an estimated 1.4 million children under age 15 are blind) a UN and UNESCO undertakes global cultural projects "Illustrated Booksfor Small BlindChildren" since 1994 and "A book for every visually impaired child". The program serves the noble purpose of involving sight-impaired children in the cultural context and expanding their ability to integrate into social life. But as more than 90% of the world's visually impaired people live in low- and middle-income countries these books is just an unrealizable dream for them.  People in need can't afford it to buy expensive books for blind kiddies. Blind people and people with very low vision can think they are out of life and can't work successfully because they don't have books with professional information.

Charity funds and special organizations like UN, UNESCO, World Blind Union, All-Russia Association of the Blind and etc keep doing invaluable job on solving the problems and rehabilitation of visually handicapped people for the society. Despite all the efforts they are unable to service fully the needs of visually impaired people.

Today SUN llc offers its machines to realize the easiest way to print books for visually impaired people. NEO UV LED Evolution makes it possible to get embossed images and Braille texts without many efforts and expenses. Also don't forget that the only books blind can use are those printed according to the Braille method that was devised in 1821 by Louis Braille. Each braille character is made up of six dot positions, arranged in a rectangle containing two columns of three dots each. For reading visually-impaired people have to feel the letters on finger-tips. Now this system is widely used by such people to read and write and due to the fact that with NEO UV-LED Evolution we can make volumetric print it's become obvious that this is the best solution that will revolutionize the way of getting Braille books. Moreover with this printer it's easy to make as much copies as its need to meet the needs of every blind. The process itself is going to be very simple and quick. Earlier the production of Braille books used to be costly. Most of the works are made manually and people who make converting standard textbooks into Braille used to spend hours manually typing in text word for word, page by page, proofing and formatting. Now it's possible to save much time as well as decrease the cost price of each book greatly.

Recently we've made tests of prints for Novosibirsk branch of All-Russian Blind Society. The tests went successfully. Since that time one of our customers is going to make charity orders for Regional Special Library for Blind. They do believe it can help children to get education and adults to improve the level of their professional knowledge.
