UV-LED technology

UV-LED technology is based on UV-LED light as source for curing. It's a process of instant ink polymerization with 365 nm wave-length. UV-LED technology combining LED units and SunFlower Ink provides perfect adhesion to different both roll-fed and rigid materials.

Profits. LED curing offers some distinct advantages over the lamp systems.

  • It's safe and reliable. UV - LED provides curing without heat and ozone release. Unlike UV-lamps LED doesn't contain mercury. There is no need to provide extra protection for equipment and personnel, or to use powerful, expensive ventilation systems.
  • Wide range of printed media can be used. The "cold" LED light allows direct printing onto media which previously couldn't be used. Such as thin films and other none heat resistant materials. It will not warp or melt or otherwise deform expensive media.
  • It is easy and cheap to use. The UV LED unit is ready to run almost straight after switching on. No need to continually replace the LED units - they're good more than 40,000 hours. Also savings come from less electricity bills because power consumption of LED is low.

LED technology makes a printer practical, compact, reliable and cheap at service.

The Main idea. This technology is based on the UV LED unit and SunFlower ink. Properties of UV LED unit and SunFlower ink provide excellent result.

UV LED unit cures the ink on printed image. Most of the properties of UV LED unit exist owing to spectrum of UV light emitted by LED. Spectrum has single band at 365nm and low intensity in all other bandwidth. This means that maximum of radiation power is found on top of this band. And moreover most part of light power is concentrated inside this band. It is shown on the picture.

This feature of spectrum of UV light emitted by LED provides next advantages:

  • Since most part of light power is concentrated inside single band and isn't spread along all bandwidth, UV LED unit provides higher efficiency and drastically lower power consumption as against UV-lamps. Design of UV LED units has water cooling system which provides low temperature of LED and therefore long trouble-free life of unit (more than 40.000 hours).

  • Mixture of SunFlower ink is especially designed for the maximum susceptible to UV light with 365nm wavelength. The susceptibility means instantaneous high efficient curing. The SunFlower ink has excellent adhesion and high optical density which provides wide color gamut.

The susceptibility of the SunFlower ink and high power of UV light with 365nm wavelength is the main idea by curing in the LED technology.
